The St. Clair Street Senior Center offers a variety of services and activities for individuals in the community age 60 and over. It is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and during other special occasions. Recreational activities attract active seniors, however, other services include information about and referrals to appropriate community resources such as a telephone reassurance and visitation program for shut-ins. Also scheduled are educational programs of particular interest to seniors on an assortment of topics, craft classes, physical fitness and health screening activities, employment referrals, transportation and volunteer opportunities both in the senior center and in our community. Adult day-care services are also offered. The center coordinates services with many community agencies including the Health Department, Red Cross, and Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency Elderly Nutrition Program, which serves a hot meal daily in the center and delivers homebound meals to approximately 140 older individuals.
