Your skin is the largest and most visible organ of your body. It is a protective layer that encases your body and acts as a barrier against injury and disease. Your skin reflects your health and requires a lot of care, attention, and protection. Our focus at Pineview Dermatology, PLLC is promoting the health and wellness of your skin. Dr. Hardy offers a variety of medical, surgical and cosmetic skin care services, including Botox treatments for wrinkles, NeoStrata chemical peels, sclerotherapy for leg veins, as well as a complete line of quality skin care cleansing and moisturizing products by NeoStrata and LyphaZome. If you would additional information about any of our skin care services or products, please ask a member of our medically trained staff. To determine if you are a candidate for a cosmetic procedure, or if you are considering a cosmetic procedure, please talk to our dermatologist about your treatment options and the results that you can expect. BOTOX therapy is a popular treatment used to reduce the visible signs of aging. It is used to give the skin a younger and smoother appearance by temporarily softening, and even eliminating, the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between our eyebrows, and around the corners of our eyes. Botox is a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. A very small amount of Botox is injected directly into the muscles that cause wrinkles, weakening the muscles so they can no longer contract. Botox works to block the nerve impulses to the muscles, relaxing the muscles that form wrinkles without affecting normal facial expressions. The results of Botox therapy appear within three to ten days after the first treatment, and last between three to six months. A chemical peel is performed to improve the appearance of the skin on the face. It helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tones, blemishes and sun-damaged skin. After a chemical peel, the skin appears tighter and smoother. Glycolic Acid is the most common peel, and is used to remove the damaged top layers of the skin. The procedure lasts approximately 15 minutes to ½ hour, depending on the desired results of each person. Facial telangiectasia are small, red or purple blood vessels that can be caused by a number of skin conditions, including sun damage, heredity, rosacea, hot and spicy food, exercise, or emotions. Removing unsightly facial telangiectasia is now possible using a high-energy light similar to a laser. The light passes through the skin and turns into heat, destroying the veins. Many telangiectasia are removed in one treatment. Sclerotherapy is a procedure used to treat small, noticeable blood vessels on the legs. These blood vessels may appear red or blue in color, and form in a sunburst pattern. They may also look like a spider web, and are often referred to as ⿿spider veins?. During the procedure, a sclerosing solution is injected with a very fine needle directly into the blood vessels. The solution causes the blood in the veins to thicken, and over a period of a few weeks the vessels become barely noticeable or invisible. Spider veins cant be prevented, but wearing support hose, exercising regularly, maintaining a normal weight, and eating a high-fiber diet can minimize the appearance of unwanted blood vessels. Skin disease can often be a sign of an underlying problem, which Dr. Hardy can help diagnose and treat. He has received specialized training in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of skin cancers, as well as moles, warts, and other benign tumors. Dr. Hardy is certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and specializes in the treatment of skin cancer and a variety of conditions of the skin, hair, and nails. He has a special interest in Cosmetic Dermatology and has been trained in laser surgery to treat sun-damaged skin, vascular lesions and pigmentary disorders. He performs chemical peels to dim
