The Western Pennsylvania Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus is a 318-bed hospital in Monroeville, providing quality health care for residents of eastern Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.The Solucient Institute named West Penn Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus one of the nation's 100 Top Performance Improvement Leader hospitals in 2004 and 2005. West Penn Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus offers a complete array of surgical, medical and both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. The facility offers care in: bariatric surgery, cardiology, diabetes, diagnostic imaging, emergency medicine, gynecology, hospice care, neurology, obstetrics, oncology, orthopedics, outpatient surgery, pediatrics and psychiatry. Its Gerald McGinnis Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the region, logging more than 41,000 visits annually. Forbes Hospice, located in Oakland, is Pittsburgh's oldest and most respected end-of-life and palliative care program, providing care for families from Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington and Westmoreland counties. Forbes Hospice has helped thousands of terminally ill people to live each day to the fullest, surrounded by the comfort of family and friends. Offering sophisticated care with the added convenience of a community hospital, West Pen Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus annually admits more than 14,000 patients and performs nearly 10,000 surgeries.A $24 million initiative called Redefining Community Medicine has greatly enhanced the scope of clinical services at West Penn Hospital - Forbes Regional Campus. Residents of eastern Allegheny and Westmoreland counties now have access to state-of-the-art technologies and advanced clinical services normally available only at city hospitals. The Womens and Infants Care Center opened in May 2007. This labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum facility offers families quality, comprehensive care in a homelike setting. Eleven beautiful, spacious suites are designed so that babies, mothers and husbands or partners can remain together in the same room throughout the stay. The Ed Dardanell Heart & Vascular Center offers the latest technologies and critical services needed for life-saving heart and vascular care. The centers physicians perform open heart surgery and other advanced procedures, catheterizations, angioplasties and stent procedures. Doctors also use state-of-the-art technology to enable endovascular grafting and other specialized vascular procedures. The Center houses a dedicated Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.
