Have been to the El Mezical in Marshfield and the atmosphere is a lot better than the Minocqua restaurant but the food is about the same. For the price I think the food is good although don't expect a Tex-Mex Americanized version of Mexican food. Some of the dishes I've had seemed very bland but still tasty. Nice change of pace if you are in the northwoods for any length of time but if you want northwoods atmosphere, go elsewhere.

Have been here several times now, working my way down the menu. Have not had a bad meal yet. Several excellent meals. Highly recommend this restaurant, excellent food, good prices, excellent service. Have to agree though that it is a bit noisy.

Love the food, polite staff, and a great atmosphere. Definitely beats a HOLE in the wall.

The opening of this restaurant was of great anticipation because there is no authentic Mexican in the Northwoods. In my opinion, there still is none. I have been there twice to be sure and give it a fair evaluation. The food is the most tasteless Mexican I have ever had. My first experience was the Beef Nachos. Overly salty beef, nachos, and a watered down cheese sauce. The Nachos were swimming in the grease. Sent that back for another choice. Still tasteless. The second experience was a traditional enchalada lunch. Tasteless and the beans must have been run through a blender before serving. A restaurant that doesn't even have hot/mild sauce on the table? They do have a bottle of ketchup! When I ordered hot sauce, I was charged 40 cents! Won't go back again.

Just average food.....enchiladas are small but tasty....super service.....music too loud.....I'll stick to Casa Real in Rhinelander

We ate at El Mez, found the food authentic Mexican flavors, similar to what we have experienced in Mexico. The chimichangas were of ample size with rice, beans, guacamole, salsa and salad on the side. Staff is friendly, service is fast. Finally, a Mexican restaurant in the northwoods, with a true Mexican taste.

Really good food. Finally a place in the Northwoods with REAL fajitas! THANK YOU EL MEZ for opening a quality AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant in the Minoqcua area! The Wateringhole in Hazelhurst was the only place you could get fajitas in the Minocqua area and they were awful! The beans were super salty and the rice was underdone, however the beans and rice and all the sides we had were SUPER in comparison! Thank you once again for showing the northwoods how to make good mexican food! Awesome Job! We have gone there 5 times since they have opened and will continue to go back time and time again!

ENJOYED THE ATMOSPHERE, STAFF AND THE FOOD. MINOCQUA REALLY NEEDED A PLACE LIKE THIS IN THE TOWN. THE FAJITAS WERE GREAT.

Good food, nice help, and great prices. A little too loud but Iam sure that by adding some plants, mexican blankets, and etc. it could help to cut down on the noise.

I did carry out from El Mez and wasn't very happy. The enchiladas were as thin as a pancake. When they said there were four in the dinner I thought, "wow that's going to be a lot to eat". Little did I know the filling was going to be so sparse it would constitute ONE real enchilada. The cup for salsa could have held approx half a cup. They couldn't even fill it up. It was less than half full. The chips were good. I'll give the place another try and see what happens. It's too bad, we needed a good Mexican restaurant in town. Looks like we still do.

Great food and atmosphere! Service was great, and im sure the minocqua area will benefit greatly from El Mez. Cant wait to go there again!
