La Loma Tamales is owned and operated by Enrique and Noelia Garcia. La Loma Tamales provides a wide menu of traditional Mexican food, and its main product is the Mexican tamale. The tamales are sold through company owned Cafeteria La Loma located in the Mercado Central at 1515 E. Lake Street, and La Loma Tamales Restaurant located in the Midtown Exchange located at 920 E. Lake Street.La Loma Tamales also operates a catering business and a large wholesale business in Minneapolis, Minnesota.Cafeteria La Loma was opened in 1999 as a Hispanic coffee shop, serving beverages including fresh brewed coffees, atole, a traditional hot Mexican drink and Mexican soda. The featured item is the traditional Mexican recipe tamales made by hand. The tamales are made from scratch using fresh stone ground whole kernel corn to make the masa (dough). The filling is made from fresh ingredients placed in the center of the masa. The masa and filling are then wrapped in a corn husk or banana leaf and then steam cooked. The stone ground corn is one of the ingredients that give La Loma Tamales its superior texture and true Mexican flavor.La Loma Tamales in Midtown Global Market it is a Restaurant serving a wide variety of authentic mexican dishes. There are currently four packaged tamales, chicken with green sauce, pork with red sauce, vegetarian, and Oaxaca (spicy chicken in banana leaf). These tamales are also available in institutional packaging and are sold to many finer food establishments through out Minnesota.On April 2010, La Loma Tamales open a new location in the Northstar Tower food court in downtown Minneapolis. it is on the ground floor but skyway accessible by escalator. The menu includes 5 kinds of hand made Tamales, taco salad, chilaquiles, enchiladas, tacos and burritos. Also this location offers a variety of Mexican drinks and sodas.
