Mesa Riverview Hosts Hispanic Heritage Month Events WHAT: Mesa Riverview will host Hispanic Heritage Month kick-off events, during the first week of Hispanic Heritage month, traditionally observed Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. The various events will feature live music, dance, crafts, special kids entertainment and food. This Hispanic Heritage community-wide celebration recognizes and celebrates the increasing diversity, traditions and contributions of the Hispanic community in Mesa and around the Valley. Hispanic Heritage Kick-off Events Line Up! Thursday, Sept. 18 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.: Join us for a special two-hour concert featuring Nosotros! This Latin band performs a variety of traditional cumbias, rancheros, merengues, Latin pop tunes, flamenco music and bossa novas. The concert will also include a variety of childrens entertainment including, balloon sculpting and face painting clowns and more. Food will be available for purchase. Friday, Sept. 19 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Join us for a special three-hour concert featuring Mas!/DIVA! !Mas! and DIVA combine traditional salsa and Latin with a variety of fun R&B and dance music. The concert will also include a variety of childrens entertainment including, balloon sculpting and face painting clowns and more. Food will be available for purchase. Saturday, Sept. 20 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.: Join us in kicking off the days festivities listening to Los Rebeldes, a traditional, young and energetic mariachi band. 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Then stay to experience Ballet Folklorico as they perform traditional Latin American dances performed in full costume and narrated for the audience. 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.: And end you day with Novo Mundo performing soothing bossa novas and romantic ballads to swinging sambas and sizzling salsa. This group plays music from Brazil, Cuba, and Mexico seasoned with a jazz flavor! 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.: All entertainment will also include a variety of childrens entertainment including, balloon sculpting, face painting clowns, caricature artists and our South of the Border Artisans leading the children in creating traditional paper flower art and cascaron makers (paper eggs). Food will be available all day for purchase.
