River Metals Recycling is a wholly owned venture of Cincinnati-based David J. Joseph Company, which is one of the largest scrap metal companies in the United States. River Metals is headquartered in Fort Mitchell, Ky., and was formed in August 1998 to better serve its regional customers. The company is one of the largest scrap processors in Kentucky and in the greater Cincinnati area, with processing yards in Newport, Louisville, Henderson, Somerset, Owensboro and Livermore, Ky. Its equipment includes automobile shredders, an aluminum shredder, balers, shears, mobile shearing, torch processing, auto crushers and an extensive truck and railcar fleet. River Metals Recycling processes more than 1 million tons of ferrous scrap and 100 million pounds of nonferrous scrap per year.
