History Bootleg, built as a bra factory in the 1930s, became a warehouse theater in 2000. The ambition is to produce brave, boundary-pushing, artistically outstanding new work, work that is primarily made by Los Angeles theater and performance-based artists. Bootleg will also host out-of-town artists when appropriate. Bootleg is situated in a dense Los Angeles neighborhood packed with people from countries all over the world. Bootleg will reflect that by producing work that is exciting to many different kinds of people, opening our Ramparts District building to the broadest possible cross section of LA artists who share our goals.
