Luella High School, home of the Luella Lions, is a high school in Henry County, Georgia, USA, that opened July, 2003. The school is presently the sixth high school in Henry County. It opened with approximately 1150 students in grades 9, 10, and 11, and approximately 100 employees. The present enrollment is 1550 students with an expected enrollment of 1950 for the 2005-06 school year. Henry County, Georgia, is located in the north central portion of the state of Georgia. Located within 20 miles of Atlanta, Georgia, it is an exurban area that is growing at a rapid pace. With a booming 103% growth from 1990 2000, Henry County was ranked 4th in the United States in population growth. As of the 2004-05 school year, Henry County School System, has 6 large high schools (grades 9-12), 7 middle schools (grades 6-8), 18 elementary schools (grades K-5), 1 elementary school (grades K-3), 1 elementary school (grades 4-5) and one alternative school. One new elementary school (Timber Ridge Elementary School) is scheduled to open for the 2005-06 school year. A high school (Ola High), a middle school (Ola Middle), and an elementary school (New Hope Elementary) are the schools projected to open for the 2006-07 school year. Henry County is also projected to open three new schools in the fall of 2007. A high school (Woodland High), a middle school (Woodland Middle), and an elementary school (Woodland Elementary) are the schools projected to open for the 2007-08 school year. Luella High School's staff seeks to create a safe and positive environment conducive to developing a community of successful lifelong learners and productive citizens.
