Notably good service experience

This was our first visit and well worth the trip over the Summit from Cheyenne. Excellent food and attentive service. Friends from Colorado had recommended the Cavalryman to us so we all met up there for my birthday celebration and had a wonderful meal and great time!

great dining experience all around

We were traveling from Ohio, on a 54 day trip out west and stopped at the museum in Laramie. We overheard some people talking about the restaurant. They were telling some others what a great place it was to eat, so we asked them where it was. We went there that evening and were NOT disappointed. It was one of the most pleasant memories we have of our trip. It was a standout. The food was great and not overpriced and the atmosphere was gracious. We'd recommend it to anyone!

DETAILS
General Info
The Cavalryman Steakhouse is located on the grounds of historic Fort Sanders, established in July of 1866. In its heyday, the Fort Sanders Military Reservation protected the Overland and Lodgepole Creek emigrant routes, the Denver-Salt Lake City stage route, and the construction crews for the Union Pacific Railroad. Ruins of the fort’s powder keg are visible just southwest of the restaurant’s main building. The Cavalryman building was constructed in 1925 to serve as the clubhouse for the local country club. Just to the east, remnants of the nine-hole golf course can still be found.
