Great and unique rock shop!

Have been shopping there since the 1990's. Even with the internet this place has a lot to offer rock hounds that can't be found anywhere else. Also like their custom rock cutting and polishing service for jewelry.

Awesome place

Although the shop is small and cramped, I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Prices for repairs are more than reasonable and they have a great turnaround time. Jut getting into my own folk type jewelry making and found them to be helpful and courteous. Thank you! =)

Very poor service

The place is cramped and dirty and the owners are rude and arrogant. Overall I was disappointed with the owner's attitude (and his wife is even worse) and really do wish there was a competing shop in the area. They're very quick to tell you what experts they are but they're really blowing smoke when it comes to quite a few things. There are two good things about the shop, they do have one nice, helpful employee and the some (not all) of the prices are reasonable. However, be prepared to pay a LOT more for tools than you would on line or even in a hardware store. Rock hammers can be purchased almost anywhere else for about 30% less and rock polishing supplies are available on line for up to 60% less. Shop around before going to Jerry's, you'll be happier.

Not a lot of help

It may just be that the website is not completed (don't know, didn't say)but, there wern't very many items or information. I have been to the shop and they are not kidding when they say there isn't much room! I had expected a whole lot more than there was. Hopefully they are just getting it started and we will see more in the future!

Little Rock Shop

While the shop contains many fascinating items, it is rather cramped and hard to get around in. The staff does know their stuff, and is very helpful. Found some things I'd never seen before. Just needs more space!

DETAILS
General Info
Jerry's Rock and Gem was established in 1954 as Jerry's Agate Shop by a Boeing machinist named Jerry Appleton. He wanted to supply his own rock habit and to fill the needs of other rock hounds. Jerry moved the store to its current location in 1962, as the business had out grown the restrictions of his own home. Then in 1982, after years of enjoyment, Jerry decided to retire and sold the business to a friend of mine, Tom, a journeyman jeweler and rockhound. With Tom's help the business evolved from a Rock shop to a Rock shop, Jewelry design, manufacture and repair store. Then in 1980 Tom asked if I would like to buy the store from him. HE DIDN'T HAVE TO ASK ME TWICE. Being a wholesale gem dealer and Hardcore Rock and Fossils Hound, I saw a fantastic opportunity to combine my G.I.A. training and love of gemstones, with my enjoyment of rocks and fossils. Now Jerry's would be a Rock, Lapidary, Jewelry and Gem store. The only thing left was Fossils and beads. I knew just the right person for the job, Joan, who has a Phd. in Paleontology and the trademark on Mt. St. Helens Emerald. DON'T MISS OUR LINK TO THE GLASS PRODUCTS PAGE. ( OPENING SOON ) Joan owned a Rock shop in the neighboring city of Tacoma. As luck would have it she was considering a change and six months later she joined us at Jerry's. WOW!!! Now we had everything we needed, but the name didn't quite fit anymore, so we decided that the name JERRY'S ROCK AND GEM was it. THANK YOU FOR CHECKING OUT OUR WEBSITE. If you like rocks, gems, and fossils, please check in with us often as we will be adding more of our inventory to the site as time allows. We will also be changing the featured items on a regular basis.
