My grandmother stayed for a few weeks to rehab after a short stay in the hospital. The staff (administration, nurses, techs) were some of the nicest I have ever experienced in a nursing home/hospital setting. The staff took time to get to know her and us and were always friendly, patient and attentive. Part of the facility has recently been remodeled but the whole facility was clean and does not have the typical nursing home smell. The residents appear well cared for and are not just sitting in wheelchairs in the lobby. The have a full calendar of events that residents can participate in as well. Although my grandmother would have rather been at home, she never had any complaints about her quality of care or the kindness of the individuals working there. I visited this facility when my father was in need of a nursing home back in 2010. It was just okay then but has definitely improved.

Yes, the place is that bad!! Administrators are burned out. So is most of the nursing staff, and NO ONE answers patients calls for help. While visiting there we take care of what our family members need and some of the other residents needs as well. Moving them out ASAP. Wouldn't let an animal stay there, much less a human being! They do very little of what they advertise. Disappointing and embarrassing!

If this place was really this bad, the state would have already closed it down.

Not long after my loved one arrived as a resident at Northgate, a female resident choked to death - while the nurse reportedly did nothing. My loved one has suffered tremendously by the neglect of the physicians - and lack of skilled nurses available at Northgate Plaza. In the last year, there have been four administrators. Caring, compassion and dignity for residents is not apparent in any but one of the administrators, who was there a very brief time. The bottom line is that Northgate is a business. Money comes first. The parent company does not try to assist the resident, when assistance is needed. Corporate is not helpful. Northgate recently spent a lot of money trying to re-decorate - but won't spend money to improve staffing. The Northgate Physicians are poor. The neglect of Physicians and Nurses at Northgate increased my loved one's suffering. In more than one emergency situation, the nurses told me, "There is nothing I can do."Do NOT recommend Northgate at all! Poor care!

Terrible nurses and terrible care for sick grandmother with broken hip and leg. They expected her to walk herself to the restroom without assistance, even though the doctor said she was to put no weight on the leg. They considered having to assist her meant she was "high maintenance". They refused to give her the medication sent by her doctor, even though she was moaning in pain. She has massive bed sores because they will not turn her or move her out of the bed and into the chair throughout the day. Luckily, we have hired someone to sit with her 24/7, so we know how bad she is being treated. I feel sorry for the patients that don't have extra care provided by the families, out of their pocket. I guarantee you, this pace is not giving your loved one the care they promise to. We even sat down with person in charge and came up with a "medical plan", and that was not even followed for one day. This place is terrible, and we can't wait to move her. She will be out of there in two days!

Most of their residents have diabetes yet the home offers no special meal for diabetics. They feed everyone the same thing (e.g., white bread, mashed potatoes, ice cream, etc) and then give people their insulin shots to manage their diabetes. Even though the doctor prescribed a 1500 max calorie diabetic diet, they say they don't offer one. Not sure why they have a dietician. I strongly suggest finding someplace else!!!

Poor care and high potential for harm due to an overwhelming patient to staff ratio. While other nursing rehabs are lowering their patient to staff ratios, Northgate Plaza along with other Stonegate facilities have taken the path to short term profits rather than a loftier outlook which would lead to great patient care. This attempt to maximize profits has led Stonegate to only attract the greenest of staff which in turn cannot offer the type care higher acuity patients require. Look elsewhere for placement of long term acute care patients.
