Prior to 1957 an elected town marshal was the only form of law enforcement in what was then known as Hilliards In 1957 the City had its first volunteer police force and in that same year purchased its first police cruiser. Over the past 20 years the Hilliard Division of Police has grown from 17 to 51 sworn officers and 18 civilian employees. The Division of Police is broken down into three sub-divisions each commanded by a Lieutenant. Field Operations - This includes the Patrol Bureau, Auxiliary Officers, Explorer Post and School Crossing Guards. Special Operations - This includes the Detective Bureau, DARE Officers and Property Room. Support Operations - This includes the Communications Center and Records Bureau. Chiefs Office This includes the Court Liaison Officer, Community Relations and Training Officer and Administrative Secretary Our Mission INTEGRITY We dedicate ourselves to serve without bias or prejudice and hold ourselves accountable to the highest professional and ethical standards COMMITMENT We dedicate ourselves to excellence and unity for the purpose of improving the quality of life in our community COOPERATION We dedicate ourselves to developing a partnership with our community by working together in a spirit of trust and mutual respect Professionalism We dedicate ourselves to developing high quality, efficient and courteous service through innovative techniques, strategic plans and team work.
