Provided by YPmobileMy girlfriend and I are new to the area and thought we would try this restaurant. First there was only one other couple in the place on Friday night at @ 9pm. We both ordered a bottle of wine and our meals. The food came out and both meals were bland and the Marsala sauce on mine tasted more like gravy than sauce. The waitress came and asked if we were enjoying our meals and we both said we were not. She offered to switch them with something different and we really didnt want to try anything else. She said she was sorry we didnt like the meals and that was it. I forced myself to eat half of my Marsala because I hate wasting food. My girlfriend barely touched her dinner. They didnt offer to take anything off our tab ( one entree would have been fine ) After going there I looked them up on Yelp and saw that they used to get really good reveiws but lately they have not. So its my opinion there must have been some changes recently that has caused them to lose there quality of food.
The meal and service I experienced last Saturday night @ Ken's Steak & Rib House was top of the line. We had a delicious Mudslide at the bar before we sat at a table from which we could view the bay. As we looked over the extensive menu, we had trouble selecting from all the choices...when our server told us the specials, I decided that tilapia with a fresh strawberry and blueberry sauce was too good to pass, even though the Chicken A la Vodka and Stuffed Tilapia were enticing. I was NOT disappointed either - the tilapia was delightful! My date had a stuffed pork chop that was every bit as delicious. I would also like to add that the salad that came with our meal was icy cold and a generous size. Service was great, even with the restaurant being packed with a waiting line. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family and hope to visit soon to try some of their other entrees.
I've eaten at Ken's Steak and Rib House twice since it came under new ownership, at the end of January 2007, and both times the food was excellent. The crab cakes are great; they are almost all jumbo lump crab meat. The calamari is tender and the flavor is enhanced with slices of banana peppers. The dessert tray has an impressive selection, with the Jim Bean Banana Supreme cake being my favorite. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The food at Ken's is fantastic. I've eaten there three times now for dinner. All meals that I ate were excellent. I've tried the Crab Cakes, and they are some of the best I've had in Maryland. Made on premises, and I'd guess over 90% Jumbo lump crab meat. I also had one of the new salads on the menu, it was very fresh and tasty. But, the best meal that I had was the ribs. I got the full rack, and with the salad and sides it was a HUGE amount of food. The ribs are the best I've tasted, they are very meaty, and the meat practically falls off of the bone, and the sauce that they use is great!
We have visited on several occasions mostly for Prime Rib, they were out of it most of the time and service a bit to be disired. Most recently and last visit, 1/2 lb. steamed shrimp were already peeled and very small. Not like the past visits. Ordered a New York Strip Well....it was still kicking. Asked for managment and he proceeded to sit at the bar. We had to ask twice for him. He thought it was taken care of he said. When management is requested it doesn't matter what he thought or was told he should have still visited the table. Our check was given without the steak being credited. So it wasn't taken care of. The best attraction is the atmosphere and surroundings of beautiful Havre de Grace.
