f I could give no stars I would. I went to Derry Animal Hospital for over 30 years when Dr Shenk was there. I even stayed after he left but they officially lost me today. I had an appointment today and woke up with the stomach flu. I left a message before the vet even opened that I was sick but wanted to reschedule. The appointment was to be at 5pm. So apparently I needed to know that I was going to be waking up puking at 5pm the night before so that I could cancel and not lose my $55 deposit. I needed to have ESP apparently. Wasn’t good enough I called even before they opened and as soon as I knew and wasn’t good enough I wanted to reschedule not cancel or be a no show no I had to have super powers in order to keep my $55 deposit. So after 30 years I’m officially done. Sad what these people did to the name given to them by a wonderful doctor. Dr Shenk you are missed and sorry to say you left your legacy to the wrong one. Keep my $55 cause you won’t see anything else from me. And I’ll give my review every where I can so I can get the word out. Be careful if you decide to give this place a chance and to those previous customers of Dr Shenk thinking about going here, think twice. It’s not Dr Shenk’s Derry Animal Hospital anymore.

New vet took over recently and the one from the previous reviews has retired. Lauren is great with our animals. She's very knowledgable and you can tell there's a caring that goes beyond just doing "a job". The staff has called several times since my dog's surgery, just to check up on him. Never had a vet care that much before. Would def trust them with any of my pets.

Was treated horrible here! Dog came in bleeding and left bleeding!! Did absolutely nothing other than want to schedule $300.00 surgery & charge me $60.00 for the less than 10min visit. Took dog to another vet same day, other office clean area,snipped off ripped skin tag,and put in 1 tiny stitch!! If this man even cared slightly about the animals he'd help my dog that day. He was more interested in the money than our dog that's for sure!! So sorry I bothered him that day! No worries this long time patient won't be returning!!!!!

No problems here, still a good vet. We've taken our dogs to Derry Animal Hospital for 8 years. Dr. Shenk is very gentle with the animlas and very knowledgeable. He takes the time to answer questions.

I've always taken my pets to Dr.Shenk and I think he's a very good vet.

He is a wonderful vet and has empathy and compassion. His staff is also very nice. Been going to over 20 years.

Unfortunately, I agree with the other reviewer. He needs to retire. He still loves animals, but he's lost the ability to do anything other than minor treatments. It's the same diagnosis for everything. He's been my vet for over 15yrs, but I've pulled all my animals out of his practice. Believe me, if you care at all about your pets, take them elsewhere.

I think perhaps it's time for Dr. Schenk to think about retiring. I've been going to him since 2002,my fiance longer (have brought 7 pets to him). Recently we brought our 20 year old cat to him & was met with EXTREME unprofessionalism. He kept repeating questions to us, seemed annoyed when we couldn't provide specific answers to our cats bathroom habits (we have 4 other cats with him) & went into a tirade of (and these are his words) "am I being punked"? Our cat had recently lost a LOT of weight in what seemed overnight,one day you pet him and you feel fat under the skin,the next day bone all the way down to his tail. We had brought him into the office to get a sense of what was wrong with him to know what we were dealing with. Schenk said he was the healthiest 20 yr old he's ever seen and said we needed a dose of reality...we needed a reality check. A week later we got a 2nd opinion (kidney failure) another week later our baby had to be put down. His tirade was UNCALLED for.

Dr Shenk has gone down hill...I have been going here for 15 years but lately he has not been the same. It was to the point that we started going to a new vet. I wish him well but I need better for my animals.

One of the most professional and friendly animal hospitals I have ever been too. Dr. Shenk takes the time to talk to you and your pet. I actually drive sixty miles to take my dogs there. The entire staff is caring.

Dr. Shenk and his staff have provided excellent care for my cats over the past 25+ years. I moved to the West Shore over 20 years ago and have changed my own doctors,etc., but won't waver on changing my vet, even if it would be closer/more convenient. Can't say enough good things about them! cl

The staff at Derry Animal Hospital are always very kind and professional. They always go the extra step to provide the very best care for my animal friend. I recommend them most highly.....
