The founders of Powell Valley, PVALC-LLC, saw this need and became one of the first to fill the gap between independent living and skilled nursing care. As pioneers, we continue to work each day to build a community in which each individual is treated with respect and given the care they need to continue to grow and lead engaging, enriched lives. Powell Valley Assisted Living opened in 1988 in Gresham on four acres of land that originally belonged to the Kummel family. Powell Valley founders are descendants of the Kummel family. The family farm as well as their beautiful rose garden was well loved and cared for since the early 1900’s. In memory of the original rose garden, residents and staff now enjoy the Memory Garden. You can still see part of the original home as well as signs of an earlier time in the posts of the gazebo. The tradition of this land is evident in the family feel that has come to define the way of life that has grown here. Providing the highest level of quality service and care to 150 residents while focusing on the goal that allows seniors to age in place is the driving passion at Powell Valley. In 1997, as the needs of some of the existing residents increased we opened Powell Valley Memory Care Community. This Alzheimer’s facility offers continuity of care and additional healthcare choices for new residents. Powell Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care Community is managed by CareWise Management, Inc.
