Before you get started looking for your new home comfort system, here are a few things you should know. The AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency), tells you how efficiently the furnace uses fuel (gas or oil). In general, the higher the efficiency %, the less fuel the furnace will waste to heat your home. Heat pumps have heating efficiency ratings indicated as an HSPF (Heating Seasonal Performance Factor). In general, the higher the HSPF rating, the more efficient the heat pumps heating efficiency is. One thing you need to know when researching air conditioners is the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) of your new air conditioner. As of January 1, 2007, the industry minimum is 13. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the unit is.Bill's Heating, Inc. was founded in 1951 by Bill Miller, in Goshen, IN. Working out of his home garage, he established a reputation for installing quality products at a fair price. His oldest son, Doug, started working with him full-time in 1969, and in 1974, with the business growing, he moved the company to 309 High St., Goshen. This provided a showroom and some office space, as well as a large warehouse. Also in 1974, Bill's second oldest son, Gregg, began working in the office doing sales and estimating. He would become the office manager, while Bill and Doug handled service and installation. Bill's wife, Lois, took care of the day to day office duties.Bill decided in 1984 that is was time to slow down and spend more time camping. When he retired, Doug and Gregg bought the business and have continued with Bill's no-nonsense approach to providing quality equipment and giving respect and appreciation to their customers. Also in 1984, Bill's Heating began a relationship with the Trane Company, which continues to this day. With Doug supervising the installation, Gregg continued to manage the office and oversee the service side of the business. The company continued a pattern of consistent growth and in 1995 the office was moved to Goshen's Linway Plaza. This location offered more offices and a bigger showroom, which was remodeled in the Spring of 2007. Now, customers can enjoy our "home setting" showroom with several furnaces, air conditioners, a working fireplace and gas grills on display. Gregg's son, Scott, grew up in the family business. Working first in the warehouse and around the office, then out in the field with Doug as an installer. In 1993, he began working full-time as a lead installer and in 2005, started working with Gregg, learning sales, system sizing and began overseeing the company's safety program. In July of 2007, Scott became the company's third generation owner, buying Doug's half of the business. Doug continues to work with the installation department out in the field and as a consultant. He is a licensed electrician and has over 40 years experience installing HVAC equipment. Gregg has been a comfort consultant for over 35 years, along with overseeing the service department and managing the office. Scott has over 15 years experience installing, as well as, service and sales experience. He is also a licensed HVAC contractor in the cities of Goshen and Elkhart, and St. Joseph Co., IN.All these years experience, combined with a continuous 25 year relationship with Trane, our installation crews and service technicians, 2 full-time comfort consultants and our 2 office personnel, means we definitely have the right employees, the right training and the right equipment for all your indoor comfort concerns.
