I was suspicious that a back molar tooth did not need to be pulled, the radiologist agreed with me, but the dentist insisted on pulling it anyway- I went in for a check up and the dentist was 30 minutes late so i had to have the checkup with a different dentist, i bumped into him as i left and it was awkward. BIGGEST ISSUE: I had a balance of $1700 for pulling two teeth and having injections of bone filler- and couldn't afford it so I set up $77 monthly payments; I replaced my bank card back in July of 2013 and reset up the payments, but got a $25 late fee that was continually removed from my next payment [making each payment $55, therefore past due again for the next month.] So I have now paid $250 in fees [May 18, 2014] instead of paying that into the contract balance [which i now still owe $312]. I called to ask about this and all he could say is that it was in the contract. I feel conned. I will not return for further dental work at any Western Dental location.

I had first appt on Monday at Western Dental in Downey. Staff was very courteous and friendly. Place was very clean, not fancy but clean. . Waited a little bit then was called, explained my problem, was taken to get xrays. Dr examined me and reviewed options. J... explained financial options. What is amazing was their patience and kind manner in explaining and answering my many questions. Their payment program is very manageable! I appreciated that they treated respectfully and patiently. I went back today to get extraction. I was nervous. Shouldnt have wasted the energy, as everyone was kind and reassuring. Dr Lee was professional and knew exactly what he was doing. Everything went well and it was not at all the horrible experienced I had imagined. Ready to go back and get the rest of the work done.

We had an appt and still took them 1hr to call us in. My two year old was tired by then even us adults were bored and annoyed at how long we had to wait. The girls in the front went to lunch were talking about their nails and us people were waiting outside to be called. If they go to lunch at 1pm why give us an appt at that time. Terrible customer service. When the nurse finally did the cleaning we walked out and nobody approached us to schedule our next 6 months appt, it's quite alright since I won't be going back there anyways but if you choose this place keep in mind the wait time is horrible!!!

Dr. Maggie Abadan is by far the best dentist I have ever had which is saying something as I have lived all over the country and have been a patient of many different dentists. She is friendly, funny and fantastic at her job. She really makes going to the dentist something that you don't try to avoid. I have had several procedures done by her and her staff and they were all completed in a top notch manner. I just broke a tooth yesterday and she was able to fit me in virtually immediately even though it was her first day back from a few days off. This never would have happened with the quack I previously went to. Her dental hygienist and dental assistant are also both fantastic, incredibly nice, friendly and professional - the whole team always explains exactly what is going on at all times, and never leaves you wondering about anything. The office is a really classy and warm environment and is very conveniently located off Hwy. 56 easy from UTC and/or Carmel Valley or even 4S Ranch that

I got 2 fillings put in. it has been a month and 1 of my fillings is still aching because my filling is too big so it is making my teeth ache. When i close my mouth one side of my teeth touches first then the other side. i made a appointment to get it fixed. My appointment was at 3 and they called my in at 2:55pm.. i was excited i didnt have to wait long until i got in there and they tell me that the doctor is finishing up his lunch. I waited for a whole hour until someone told me that i couldnt been seen because the doctor wasnt working that day. so why did they schedule my appointment that day? i have not clue.. overall my experience with them has been frustrating. the receptionist is rude and they need to learn how to do their job.

My husband had a 9:45 am appointment and is handicapped walks with a cane and has to use oxygen 100% of the time, he arrived 5 min late for the appointment (first time ever being there) it took the receoptionist another 5 minutes to find his name and appointmen said "you are 15 min late and you will have to reschedule!" what a crock. He has had a painful broken tooth with no sleep for 3 days and they knew this. They do not get any starts in my book. There was no call for this. The girl even told him the doctor is running late anyway. So if he had been on time, what? they would have made him wait and not even said a word about the doctor running late. Very disappointed because alot of people have referred us to them. We wont go back!

HAVING READ ALL OF THE REVIEWS POSTED HERE, I FIND IT HARD TO IMAGINE THAT THE ONE STAR COMMENTS ARE DESCRIBING THE SAME DENTIST WHO HAS TREATED ME FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. I AM A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL MYSELF; SO I CONSIDER MY OBSERVATIONS FAIRLY WELL INFORMED. DR. SCHMAL'S WORK ON MY MOUTH HAS BEEN SATISFACTORY IN EVERY WAY. ALSO, SHE KNOWS HER TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS, AND DOES NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND A REFERRAL TO A SPECIALIST WHEN CONDITIONS WARRANT. HER DENTAL ASSISTANTS ARE EQUALLY COMPETENT; AND HER OFFICE STAFF ARE FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT. REGARDING THE NEGATIVE POSTS, I NOTICE THAT SEVERAL OF THEM CONTAIN SIMILAR GRAMMAR AND SYNTAX ERRORS, WHICH MAKES ME SUSPECT THAT THEY WERE WRITTEN BY THE SAME (DISGRUNTLED?) PATIENT. ALSO, ANOTHER PATIENT SPEAKS OF HAVING TO TAKE BOTH(!) XANAX AND VALIUM BEFORE AN APPOINTMENT. MIGHT ONE INFER THAT THIS PATIENT COULD BE HIGHLY NEUROTIC AND POSSIBLY DRUG DEPENDENT? SUCH A PERSON'S COMMENTS WOULD HAVE LITTLE CREDIBILITY.

My husband got upper dentures in December 2012, since then 4 different teeth have fell out. Was not eating hard things. This is the third set of dentures he has had, and never have teeth fallen out before. I also have dentures and have for 40 years and never had a tooth fall out. He is afraid to eat anything, we did not have insurance and he had to take $1068 our of saving for the top dentures. Would not recommend them to anyone.

First, I have to say I loved the dentist who helped me...........HOWEVER....(and this is a big one) the staff was outrageously rude. All they did was talk about the parties they were going to attend and what they were having for lunch. They yelled back and forth to each other making jokes and acted as if I (and the other patients in the "stalls") were cadavers. The front desk was even worse; I waited 10 minutes for the receptionist to hang up from a personal phone call before she took care of me. Not going back....

Each visit there was the most disturbing experience ever. The services such as tooth extractions and fillings took long amounts of time while facing unbearable pain. I sat and cried wondering when would it all be over. I am a senior, not a child and the pain I endured while they worked caused me to cry out, at that point I was told to "be quiet". I had to remind them I was not a child, I know unbearable pain when I feel it. Every single repair they made such as fillings have since fallen out (within a few months). Where teeth had been drilled, those have since all cracked and are now chipped. The parcels never fit, I told them that upon receipt, they said wear them a while but they ended up useless. I wish the government knew just how much money they are wasting in approving Western Dental as distubutors of dental care for the less fortunate and others. I would NEVER go back.

I had my teeth whitened here and got amazing results. I have been to many dentists before, and have to say they did a real good job.

Because of the western dental (across from the mall) I now must take Xanax or valium BEFORE and AFTER being seen by a dentist, and haven't been back to the dentist in 2 years, I prefer to deal with half a tooth and a mouth full of missing fillings since they kept falling out because WESTERN DENTAL doesn't know what they're doing. Everyone I know....and I do mean everyone that has dealt with them...will never go back. SPARE YOURSELF. I can't speak much about the other western dental in Hanford, because after waiting for 4 1/2 hours to be seen and taking my whole script of valium from nervousness I was never actually seen there, but I can imagine they are just as bad.

I would not recommend this place to anyone that has insurance or medical cover. The wait is long and it's crowded. Sometimes you can not even get a seat. The dentist especially the asian lady that examined my teeth was no responsive and very rude. I was told i have 9 cavities. I went to Another dental center and I was told i have 3. What the heck is going on. Whatever it is i would not go back there again.

This office took 2 hours to get me in and out. I didn't have any cavities so I just needed a cleaning. It was very frustrating to just wait that long for a cleaning. They don't even floss my teeth; my teeth didn't feel sqeeky clean after they were finished. There is also no privacy. All the patients are in the back in one big room so everyone can hear your oral conditions. The dentists use no discretion. I heard one destist tell a patient "you have eight cavities", she was loud. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The only reason I went there was because I don't have insurance right now. As soon as do, I will run in, get my file and leave as fast as I can.

The dentist is a very nice lady who cares about your comfort! I went in today to have my root canal done. The assistants make minor mistakes here and there (Because they are fresh from school or in school) but are nice people. I had a fast procedure. I was not waiting very long when I got there. Fast service and reasonable prices ( they have me on a payment plan ) you really can't beat it!
