Garland Welding Supply Co., Inc., was established in 1967 by the sale of Andy's Welding Supply located at Forest Lane and Shiloh Road to Mr. Bill McGinnis. Mr. McGinnis owned Garland Welding Supply, and Mr. Huston Simmons was manager and handled the daily operations. In 1973, Mr. McGinnis built a new building at 3917 Forest Lane and changed the name to Dallas Welding Equipment Co. In 1979, Mr. McGinnis sold Dallas Welding Equipment Co. to Amerigas. At that time, Mr. Huston Simmons left the company. In February 1982, Mr. Huston Simmons bought the rights to the name Garland Welding Supply and incorporated the business. Mr. Huston Simmons opened the new Garland Welding Supply Co., Inc., at 111 North Ninth Street in Garland. Because of growth, in 1986 the company moved to a larger facility at 300 Lavon Drive. The company continued to grow, and in 1987 it opened a second facility in Rockwall and a third facility on Irving Blvd. in Dallas in 1990. In 1995, Garland Welding Supply Co., Inc., moved to 3340 Ribelin Way for better access for customers and to handle the substantial growth of the company. At that time, Mr. Huston Simmons retired, and his son, Mr. Andrew Simmons took over as President of the company.
