      When we bought our home we had a hard time finding insurance because of its condition. After another agency was unable to help us, they told us to go to Wayah, who can write policies for many different companies. Wayah also helped us find an auto policy for half of what we were paying thru another agent. They give us good personalized service whenever we need them.

      The Wayah Agency was organized and founded in Franklin, North Carolina by Morgan Shatley in 1955. Ed Shatley took over the agency upon his father's retirement in 1967. Ron Winecoff joined the agency in 1975 after resigning his position as Macon County Manager. Jim Garner came to the Wayah agency in 1984, to manage a newly acquired office in Andrews, North Carolina. A new office was acquired in Highlands, North Carolina in 1989 and Ron took over the duties of manager and remained there until 1992, when Steve Chenoweth joined the agency and assumed those duties. Ed Shatley and Ron Winecoff retired in January of 2002 with Jim Garner and Steve Chenoweth taking over agency operations. Our management and staff continue to provide the same customer service that has always distinguished Wayah and its employees as a leader in the Insurance Industry. After acquisitions and sales, the Wayah Insurance Group, as it exists now, has two offices located in Franklin and Highlands. Our competent Customer Service Agents are eager to meet all your personal and business insurance needs in Western North Carolina. Wayah Insurance Group is an Independent Insurance Agency.
