In addition to employees of GTE(Verizon), the credit union opened its membership to other employee groups. Lincoln Financial Group, Comcast, The Fort Wayne Komets, and Physicians Health Plan employees are a few of the companies eligible for membership. The charter also allows for family membership and carries a "once a member, always a member" philosophy. The most recent change to the charter states that anyone that LIVES OR WORKS in the city of Fort Wayne or Aboite, Eel River, Lake, Perry and Washington townships in Indiana may join General Credit UnionLess
