The price was good. The front desk people were friendly and helpful. The hotel is easy access from freeway and is in safe area. The breakfast is good for the price. All electronic devices in room worked without any problem. Overall a good stay. Will be back soon.

We had a great stay here. Al and Verna would wonderful hosts and could not have been more helpful. Al provided us with some great tips on what to see and how to get to them. The accommodation is beautiful and had all the amentities that we needed. Was a great place to come home to after exploring Fairbanks all day. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

I stayed in the King Studio; it was great! The room also holds a full couch/bed, so a family of four could be comfortable in the room. The cupboards and refrigerator were well-stocked so that I could choose what I wanted for breakfast. a variety of muffins and bagels, two types of cereal, eggs, milk and orange juice. The coffee pot was ready to push the button! The hosts placed a lot of tourist-type pamphlets in the room and they would have been welcomed by those who were trying to decide how to spend time in the area. The bathroom was downstairs, but private and well-stocked. The laundry was in the same building, in another entrance. I didn't check it out. Raspberries were growing thick on the property. Told I could pick and eat freely, I really enjoyed the rare Alaskan treat! Airport pick-up and delivery is very important to me. I appreciated the personal touch! Al and Verna were excellent hosts. I enjoyed them both!

The Log Cabin Hideaway is a delightful place to stay while in Fairbanks. Owners Al and Vera are most kind, helpful and respectful of privacy. They share cheery rooms on a quiet neighborhood street and within an easy walk of downtown eateries (try Bobby's Greek). Al has bikes he shares for free. I remain much obliged to Al and Vera for providing me and my travel partners a "home base" for our travels to and from wild Alaska.

Al and Verna are wonderful hosts. Al picked us up at the train station and regaled us with tales of Alaska. We slept like babes in a comfy bed with a homemade quilt and feasted on blueberry pancakes this morning. In all the days of our Alaskan vacation, Al and Verna were the friendliest people we met. We would definitely stay here again!

A True Gem In Fairbanks My husband and I can't say enough about the wonderful stay we had with Allen and Verna Fleming at the Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway Bed and Breakfast. We arrived on a motorcycle after calling the B&B from the Fairbanks Visitor's Center. The Visitor's Center was very complementary regarding this specific B&B and since we had no advanced reservations we were very lucky that they were able to accommodate us. We were given the loft for one night before moving into the main house for our stay of over five days. The loft was comfortable and more that met our needs. Allen is so knowledgeable about the surrounding areas that we just relied on his expertise to direct us to the best sights. He was helpful beyond our expectations. Verna's breakfasts were varied and plentiful. Our room and the house as a whole was spotless. We will definitely return to stay at the Downtown Log Cabin B&B the next time we are in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Like visiting family! Me and my son stayed at the Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway for 2 nites .It was the best stay ever. Verna and Al are outstanding. We had the Hall House. It has a separate entrance,is spacious, very clean, nice decoration, comfy rooms etc. We shared the house the first nite and had it the second nite to ourselves as no one had booked the other room. Al even said we could use the bicycles (mountain bikes in mint condition)for free, which he kindly left in the garage for us. So i make it short: you'll feel like coming home to mom and dad.We would recommend this place to anyone!

Incredible place...Incredible people Last summer while R-ving around Alaska it became apparent that I needed some R and R from my cramped RV. I just happened to be driving down Badger Street in Fairbanks when this very Alaskan looking log cabin with a B & B sign hung off a great flower covered deck. It looked like a fabulous place and quite Alaskan. I checked in with Al and Verna who were so friendly and fun that I knew I was home. However, they told me they were "full" except for a loft with a porta potty. Al said he would empty it if I persisted in staying. I did and he did! The loft was clean with fresh linens daily. The food was extra good and more than enough so I only had to eat breakfast the entire day, saving me money. After three days a room opened up in the main lodge which was offered to me by Verna. She said it had a "real" bathroom and I moved over. It was fabulous. It was clean and roomy with free WiFi and laundry. The best part was the fun and knowledge these two had abo

Al and Verna are the most amazing hosts--they offered to pick me up at the airport. I loved my little room, and I loved that the room refrigerator was stocked with bagels, fruit, milk and juice, and the cupboards with cereal and other goodies. I could eat breakfast whenever I wanted, come and go when I wanted, and leave my extra baggage in their garage while I went on a trip. They offered me ripe raspberries from their garden. Truly, Al and Verna are like great in-laws with open arms. I will definitely stay with them again.

My husband and I picked the Studio apartment at the Log Cabin Hideaway property for its kitchenette. Neither the online description nor any communication with the owner prior to arrival said anything about the studio apartment being up a flight of steep stairs! The private bath is downstairs, along with a "dressing room" which is a handy place to keep the luggage (to avoid having to haul it upstairs). But we found ourselves continuously forgetting something downstairs, or upstairs, necessitating running up and down the stairs. The owners are very service oriented and eager to help acclimate guests to their city. This property encompasses units in 3 different buildings, so I can't comment on the other units available. All are located in a quiet residential area, close to "downtown," but definitely not in the "downtown" area.

The room was very nice - king-size bed and room for all our luggage. We were in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom house, so we shared a bathroom with other guests. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of food and had everything we needed. Very homey and comfortable. The decorations included several beautiful pieces of stained glass that had been created by Mrs. "Host." There was a wood stove in the living room, also a desk with information on the locale. What we appreciated most was the information from the hosts - Mr. "Host" had many tips for us and suggestions of things for us to do. He made it clear that he was available to help with anything we might need. The only negative was that it was late June, with the midnight sun, and the blinds did not completely darken the room. If we ever get back to Fairbanks, we will definitely call these people for another room.

My husband and I arrived in Fairbanks on 6th June with all intention to stay at the Ah Marie Rose, who according to The Lonely Planet was a good place to stay. We had driven for hours on end from Denali Park and were exhausted. John at the Marie Rose had no space and phoned up his friend Al Flemming at the Log Cabin. Al and Verna was just down the road and also within walking distance to downton. They had space. We booked three days but stayed for 5. We arrived and two elderly people came to greet us. There are several types of accomodation. We opted for the Log cabin which is a house on its own with two rooms. We took the biggest room. The house itself was beautifuly maintained with a kitchen and lovely lounge with TV and everything you would expect in a house. The fridge was very well stocked with cereal, muffins, spreads etc. The house had one bathroom with shower/ bath. The whole house was very spacious. Outsided was a lovely deck to sit on.

We (two adults and one child) stayed at Al & Vernas Downtown Log Cabin Hideaway for two nights on July 2 & 3, 2009. We are so glad to have found this bed & breakfast. Their excellent hospitality and comfortable room made our big annual summer trip absolutely memorable. Als knowledgeable, down-to-earth suggestions about out plans in Fairbanks, Vernas scrumptious breakfast, and of course, we enjoyed the delightful conversations with them on various topics. Also, the guest room, pleasantly decorated with an essence of an early Laura Ashley style, in a quiet, well-maintained residential location, which is about 10 min. to downtown, is a great value. If you stay there, be sure to take a few-minute walk to the 1st Ave along the Chena River. Beaver sightings are guaranteed. Don't forget to visit Alaska Pipelines and Chena Hot Springs.
