Bandido's Mexican Cafe

Our Restaurant is Quite Unique Nothing fancy, just great food and great service in a clean, comfortable friendly atomosphere. Our menu is a combination of my mom's recipes which are primarily Tex Mex as well as TRUE Mexican as my wife brought the influence from Mexico City, Mexico.

Each week we have a different lunch and dinner feature which are plates that are not on our regular menu. These features range from potato enchiladas made with real scratch made mashed potatoes topped with salsa verde and cheese to shrimp & crawfish enchiladas with a chipotle cream sauce to Santa Fe quesadillas which are cheese quesadillas filled with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, tomatoes & cilantro, to empanadas filled with your choice of spinach & cheese, chicken & cheese or picadilo (beef with raisins, capers, potatoes & Peas) all topped with a sweet & spicy raspberry habanero sauce.

Our fajitas are locally famous and our salsa is award winning! In 2005 we won the Best Restaurant Salsa category in the Bull City Chili Challenge. This year we were voted the Best Mexican Food by the readers of the News of Orange county and Best Mexican Restaurant by the readers of the Chapel Hill Herald and The Herald Sun Newspapers.

Even our desserts are unique. We do have the traditional Fried Ice Cream as well as our own invention the Oreo Cookie Fried Ice cream which is a large scoop of vanilla ice cream rolled in crushed Oreo cookies and deep fried! It is then topped with chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a cherry. We have a fried cheesecake burrito topped with powdered sugar and caramel sauce.
