Always at the forefront, A Food Service utilization of technology has played an important role in providing its customers with added convenience, service and value. In 2000, A Food Service was one of the first in the industry locally to convert from hand written to computer generated invoicing and inventory management. Mobile phone communication with drivers followed soon after, enhancing A Food Service ability to respond swiftly in a rapidly changing, fast paced environment. Pricing, specials and notifications were faxed out in a weekly newsletter format, but are now distributed via email as a more eco-friendly alternative. Email communication and ordering between customers and vendors is now common place, with online ordering and customer account access available in late 2010. The company?s mission is to provide top quality food products with quick reliable service to restaurants, hotels, educational institutions, and other food service providers. The company currently offers over 8,000 products which include beef, poultry, fresh sea food, cheese and dairy products, produce, lamb, pork, paper goods, and disposables. In order to insure the highest quality and freshest products, University Foods prefers to deliver manufactured items the same day that they are produced. This also provides the customer with products with a longer shelf life. One of the keys to A Food Service success has been the utilization of NEC, a state of the art computerized distribution system. This system allows the company to instantly retrieve each customer?s product specifications and pricing, and delivery requirements. Management,Sales, Order Entry and Delivery personnel all utilize this information to service our customers. This gives us the ability to respond quickly and efficiently to our customers needs. We are confident that the quality of our products and our customer service will exceed all of your expectations.
