Karen, Vern and Eugene are the owners and operators of the Chalet Motel. We found our stay there to be one of the best experiences we have ever had. The location was great, the town was friendly, and the convience of just being able to walk out the door and your car/cycle was right there was great. We immediately booked our reservations for next year. We found these people very friendly and helpful to us and willing to go above and beyond to accomodate us. We enjoyed the fact that it isn't real large and was more people friendly than any of the larger chain motels. I would highly recommend this place to anyone I know.

I love the Chalet Motel in Custer, SD. The accommodations are clean and the prices are very reasonable. I found the owner to be delightful to chat with and very easy to get along with. I have stayed in this motel on several past visits to the area and will continue to stay there in the future. I give it four stars for it's lack of kid friendly activities i.e. pool and yard toys like swings.

The owner of this establishment was mean and hateful. We have never been treated worse by a motel establishment. We were looked upon with hateful eyes in the morning and harsh, rude words upon check out. We had done nothing to deserve this while staying there for one night. Had we known the owner was like that - we never would have chosen this motel. The owner seems to be prejudice toward people who are not from that area. This is the only reason we could think for his abhorrent treatment of us. It was an absolute shame he was so mean, as the rest of the town of Custer is filled with wonderful, considerate locals. If you are going to visit Custer - do not stay at this motel and your trip will be fine.

I would never let my family stay in this place again. It was awful! They were cheap and I guess in this instance you get what you pay for!
