      General Info
      The Mecklenburg County Health Department works to promote and protect public health through various education programs. It maintains a general communicable disease control division that investigates various reportable diseases, compiles statistical information, and implements and enforces control measures. The department provides surveillance and follow-up of communicable diseases to control epidemic threats in the community. The Mecklenburg County Health Department also investigates and monitors reported animal-inflicted injuries, such as bites, scratches and other exposures. It assists in protecting the health of disabled and senior citizens enrolled in adult health and day care programs by providing information and assistance to individuals and organizations regarding health-related activities. The department is a part of Mecklenburg County in North Carolina.
