Rust in Peace New Works by Bethany Hadden November 5th 28th Meet the Artist Reception Friday, November 5th from 7-9pm Rust in Peace is a collection of paintings that celebrate objects past their prime. The worn paint and encroaching rust reveal a beauty not found in youth, but in an aged life that has seen its dings and dents. These paintings reflect the long journey and at times an acceptance of what is to come. They portray the gracious final moments of existence. The artist, Bethany Hadden, followed her curiosity in untraditional beauty through abandoned helicopters, trains and planes to junkyards and scrap heaps. As she spent time in junkyards and antique shops, it became common for her to pick up a few items along the way. Bethany enjoys painting on wood for its natural bumps and grains which play an important role in the outcome of each piece. Many sites, such as abandoned boats in the desert, and random rusty antique cars during her travel across the country and living in California also inspired ideas for her work. Bethany invites you to experience her exhibition not only as an ending to a personal journey, but also the celebration of the lifelong one. Rust in Peace will open with a Meet the Artist Reception on Friday, November 5th from 7-9pm and will run through November 28th at Green Rice Gallery in the heart of the NoDa District. Green Rice Gallery is located at 451 E. 36th St, Charlotte NC 28205. Contact 704.344.0300 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Or visit the website at www.green-rice.com.
