The Village of Cardington, Ohio is a tranquil community in the heart of Ohio's rolling farmland. Located in south central Morrow County in north central Ohio, Cardington is within an easy driving distance of Columbus, Marion and Mansfield. Cardington is named after the carding mill that Isaac Bunker and Howard Horton built on the north side of the Whetstone River. This and other enterprises encouraged settlement in the Village of Whetstone. The town was renamed Cardington when it was platted in 1836.
