Bremen City School are extremely proud of our system and the academic and extra-curricular achievements of our students, and the strong parental support that our students receive at home. Examination of our students' norm referenced test scores and performance assessments reveal that we have one of the best school systems in the state. Bremen City Schools is an example of how parental and community support can make a difference in the quality of education. Effective school research states that effective schools have the following common factors: a focus upon teaching and learning, a guaranteed and viable curriculum, professional leadership, shared vision and goals, high expectations for staff and all students, safe and orderly school environment, frequent monitoring of student progress, and strong parental and community involvement. As you evaluate the Bremen City School System you will find that all of these elements are present in our school system. Under the "No Child Left Behind" requirements for achievement all of our schools made Adequate Yearly Progress and were classified as Safe Schools. According to 2006 Governor's Office of Educational Accountability, 94.6% of our students in elementary made or exceeded standards set for adequate yearly progress in math and in reading 92.8% met or exceeded standards. In our middle school and 89.1% students met or exceeded standards in math and 94.9 met or exceeded standards in reading. AT Bremen High School, 82.9% met or exceeded standards set for Math and 95.5% met or exceeded standards set for English/Language Arts. Our average highest SAT scores for graduating seniors in 2006 were1504. To provide a quality and well-balanced education for all of our students. To enable all students to reach their full potential by preparing them to become lifelong learners, problem solvers, responsible citizens, and productive members of society. We believe a priority of our community is to educate its young people. We believe success in education can best be attained in a small school setting where more individual attention can be given and where students are recognized as people and not mere numbers. We believe that decisions within the school system be based upon what is best for our students. We believe that our school must have structure and discipline. We believe that all students can learn. We believe that all students have the right to a healthy and safe environment. We believe that all people have a need for self-worth and self-esteem. We believe that high expectations result in high achievement. We believe that teaching is the key to the educational process. We believe that we as educators should always be seeking avenues to improvement. We believe that both competitive and cooperative spirit should exist in our community and schools. We believe the development of good character, integrity, moral soundness, and work ethic is essential to community success. We believe that learning is a life-long process. We believe that cooperation and success of educators, parents, businesses, churches, and community and government leadership determine the ultimate success of the community. We believe that the learning environment is enhanced by adequate facilities.
