I was invited to De'Soul Cafe for a lunch date with a co-worker. Prior to arriving I checked out the website & the southern soul food menu. The cafe definitely had a cute, coziness about it from the photos so I was game. Upon arriving, there was a nice atmosphere, the host/waiter seated us right away. We ordered our drinks & entrees, which didn't take long to be prepared. Once I received my meal I wasn't impressed. The food was very greasy & salty and just wasn't that tasty to me. I felt like the food was upsetting my stomach after a few bites. I really don't like to waste food but I decided the food wasn't for me. My co-worker enjoyed her meal and added dessert, which was ok. I wish the food was to my likings because it's such a cute little spot to go to and the prices are so reasonable. Too bad.

*Saturday night... Ok so we expected a wait period...but there was a long wait with tables and booths open and once we were seated still had to wait to get drinks *Waitress had an attitude..eyes rolling... *Soup was luke warm *Fried whiting & shrimp needed more coating and the portion size could have been a little more *Will not be going back ever again Service was awful

Everything on the menu is good.

This unique twist on down home soul food leaves you shaking your feet, licking your fingers and savoring every morsel. Very flavorful but not heavy. When in the area, don't pass up the opportunity to enjoy an awesome meal from Desoul Cafe! Excellent Chef and Employees

I was there last week. I think they have great food with great prices. I ordered a take out meal and had to return it because I was given to someone else and they had my order. They need to do a better job of this, I see that I am not the first one this has happened too.

I had been to the restaurant once before and was a satisfied customer so I returned however this time I placed an order togo..I live in laplata so you can imagine how upset I was to find that when I got home, instead of salmon, greens,, yams and mac n cheese I had french fries and catfish fingers. I called to express how inconvenienced I was and instead of the manager trying to make an attempt on her own to compensate for the situation I had to ask her "As a manager what do you think you should do to keep me as a returning customer" ( I only asked this question because I am trying to support small black owned businesses) She replied with what she could not do vs what she could do. I traveled all the way back to brandywine to retrieve what I paid for and I still had to ask " Where is the lemon butter SAUCE for my salmon? She told me it was already on the salmonI showed her it was not and she came back with some melted butter. SMH ..Customer Satisfaction ..key to successful business

My family came to visit from out of town...I took them here (party of 9) and EVERYONE was very satisfied. The atmosphere was very nice, and the food was delicious. I loved the fried chicken, ribs, cornbread and crab dip. Many of my family members ordered the brunch buffet and said everything was delicious (although the greens needed a little hot sauce and salt). They are already planning their return visit here. I do recommend reservations for large parties - especially if you go on a Sunday....but you won't be disappointed!

The food was superb ... very southern but not to rich and salty. Crab cakes especially tastie and all crab meat. WONDERFUL!!

This is great place to eat and just take a load off. If its the food you want atmosphere or a great looking place, this is where you should go. Everything is great with awesome prices!!

The restuarant and food are attractive. The food quality is just ok. Scallops are not prepared fresh. Bisque was salty and overlooked. The wait was 1 hour for order to arrive. Wait staff and manager failed to offer excellent customer service. I will give it a year and return to see if they have improved.

Desoul Cafe is a hidden gem. They have a nice atmosphere and spectacular food. I went to the Sunday brunch this past weekend and it was delicious as well as reasonably priced. The brunch menu included too many things for me to mention but everything I had was well seasoned without being too much. The sweet tea is the best! Please do yourself a favor and visit.

Just the best greens, catfish fingers and lemon cake this side of my family's cooking! Keep up the great work. Great decor too.
