I have been seeing Dr Barsa for about a year and a half now. I have never encountered a more caring and knowledgeable pain management physician. My insurance company approved my first round of spinal injections/and they lasted for almost a year. Then my knee went out. This caused me to walk with difficulty and my back returned to extremely unbearable pain due to this. Insurance approved the injection for pain in my knee, but refused to approve any additional injections for my lumbar and cervical spine. My insurance would not even approve comparable MRI's for my lumbar and cervical spine. Dr Barsa and his staff took the time to physically review all aspects of my pain and physical difficulties. Dr Barsa then took the time himself to readdress my insurance company. Today I received the approval for the cervical MRI! My insurance company stated right on the approval that it was due to Dr Barsa and his persistence. God bless them!! I am awaiting information about approval for the remaining requests. If you need a compassionate and knowledgeable pain management doctor that will take time to fight for your well being.....make an appointment today to see Dr John Barsa!!

The staff in the doctor's office are incompetent and rude. When I was at my appointment a nurse switched two people's medication. This was discussed in front of me and was not considered a big deal. A few weeks after my appointment (that took over a month to get) I slipped another disc and spent the night in pain (so much pain that I vomited twice). I called in the morning, got the message machine, left a message and no one called me back. When I finally spoke to the receptionist she told me he could see me in two weeks. I explained that the medication I had was not working and I needed to see him right away. She was extremely rude and refused. When I asked what I was supposed to do because I had signed an agreement to not get pain medication from anyone else, but I was so hurt I needed help today; she put me on hold and never picked the line back up. I waited five minutes and then hung up. This office staff treated me like a useless drug addict, not a person in pain.

There was a time many years ago when I do believe that Dr. Barsa actually cared about what and how his patients were feeling in regards to coping and managing their ongoing pain.Unfortunately, due to intensive, intrusive, and unnecessary govermental regulations many of his patients are being left stranded and in the middle. Today,many of his patients are sicker and require more help but he has less options and I am sure he becomes frustrated but that is no excuse to yell at your patient, however we all are human. I too, was once yelled at by Dr. Barsa in 2004 but it was in a caring manner and he apologized once he realized the facts. I sincerely hope things have turned around for her since then whomever she may have found to assist her. I feel that he and his office staff try hard to assist you if possible although they are limited in their abilities once again due to having their hands tied by ongoing rules, regulations, and restrictions. hmj

Dr. Barsa, I just want you to know Im sitting here still crying over how you barked at me today. Its 12:09am and I cant think of anything else but how mean you were. I cant believe you yelled at me. How dare you yell at your patient! I need kindness and understanding. I have never in my life ever been yelled at like that before and you should be reprimanded for how you treated me. I have been in pain for 4 years and not one Dr. that Ive seen can ever stop my pain. I am in pain at a level 6-8 ALL THE TIME!!!! What part of the Im in pain all the time All you had to do was take my hand kindly and say, Honey; you cant be taking so many meds. Youll be dead. You have to promise me you wont do that anymore. Thanks for ruining Christmas and I cant be happy for it. I am too miserable and wish Id never meet you. Thats all you had to say. I think I deserve an apology. Kim Jordan
