Our History John E. Barsa, MD, P.A., is a pioneer of pain management. He is certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine and is a founding member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine. After completing a five-year residency program at hospitals in Liverpool, England he joined the staff at the University of Washington School of Medicine, department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Barsa received an award for excellence in teaching and was the clinical coordinator for two pain management clinics. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Regional Anesthesia, American Medical association, Hillsborough County Medical Society, Florida Society of Anesthesiologists, International Association of the Study of Pain and American Pain society. Dr. Barsa is the author of numerous articles and has presented papers to his peers on pain management. - Back to Top - Services Offered At the Pain Institute of Tampa, we offer a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to pain control and management. Most services are provided on-site but other services may require you to be referred elsewhere. We will monitor and coordinate your care in a manner to provide optimal recovery potential. Some of the services that we provide include: Comprehensive assessment and determination of the source of your pain. Development of a multidisciplinary plan of care to facilitate optimal results. Careful monitoring and appropriate alteration of a personalized oral pain medication regimen, if indicated, utilizing a multifaceted strategy. Interventional services if appropriate consisting of trigger point injections, nerve block therapy, radiofrequency lesioning, intrathecal pump implantation, dorsal column stimulator implantation, and many other services not listed.
