At 18 Miles to the Border, we proudly offer the Bozeman community the regional flavors from our families in the Arizona/Mexico border region. Our flavors and cooking techniques originate from Tucson, Nogales and San Carlos. Our beef is marinated or rested for 48 hours prior to serving. The beef, chicken, and pork are seasoned with our house made blend of spices learned from Abuelita (Grandma) who learned from her mother. Then the meats are slow cooked to the point where tenderness allows then to be hand shredded as is the tradition.
Our guacamole is made fresh several times a day. But that is just the start- every item on our menu is prepared from scratch. Beans simmer for an entire day in our blend of seasonings. Chile rellenos, tamales, enchiladas, and chimichangas are house made, never from frozen. Salsas and sauced are made with fresh ingredients, The only items we don't make in the restaurants are the tortillas - our supplier in New Mexico knows something about making great tortillas that we don't and he promised his Abuelita he would never tell!
Southern Arizona is a land of great variety, but throughout the region two things remain constant - aridity and heat. Traditionally dairy items and vegetables were not available on a consistent basis, resulting the focus of the cooking has been the meats and the sauces. Though we take great pride in representing the culinary style of our families, we have elected to offer sour cream and cheese upon request, as well as, an expansive selection of fresh salsas, pickled vegetables and other specialties so that you can create your interpretation of our tradition- make Abuelita proud!
In addition to distinctive flavors, the people of the region are known for their warmth and hospitality - every visitor is welcomed as a guest and is considered part of the family. Roy, Rosalie, Justen, Alex, and our team welcome you.Less

(More) The restaurant has a great location and a nicely sized patio to enjoy those beautiful summer days in Bozeman. I would recommend it as a nice spot to have a beer and a few tacos during the day, but the service is hit or miss so if you're on your lunch shift you make want to make plans to grab a bite elsewhere. At night the menu is overpriced and, again, the service may or may not be to your expectations for downtown dining. Having said that, it is the only restaurant downtown that serves Mexican food (other than La Tinga which opens only briefly for lunch during the workweek).Props on grabbing the location, but there should be better consideration for price in terms of quality and quantity. I do, however, enjoy my afternoons off relaxing on the patio and having a snack and a beer with friends. (Hide)

Very over priced and first Mexican restaurant my wife and I have ever been to that you actually had to pay for chips and salsa. Very disappointed that they do not serve regular margaritas too. I would not recommend this place. (Hide)
