Dr. Maria Montessori believed that no human being is educated by another person. He or she must do it by himself or herself or it will never be done. A truly educated individual continues learning long after the hours and years he or she spends in the classroom because that person is motivated from within by a natural curiosity and love for knowledge. Dr. Montessori felt, therefore, that the goal of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies, but rather to cultivate the childs own natural desire to learn. At Meeting House Montessori School we believe that children are blessed with the gift of curiosity and the ability to absorb vast amounts of new information. Our staff is committed to nurturing creativity and confidence and will always strive to provide an enriching curriculum. Our goals are also to facilitate your childs independence, social skills, self-discipline, and to help them gain a better understanding of the world in which they live. We believe in nurturing the whole child and feel that all aspects of his or her development are crucial and of equal importancethe physical, social, emotional, and intellectual. OUR GOALIt is said that the mind is an empty vessel waiting to be filled. There are a variety of ways in which this vessel obtains its contents. Children learn from doing and they educate themselves by taking in their surroundings. They also look to others to explain the concepts that they do not understand. Once they are given the tools and the knowledge of how to educate themselves, they seek to consume and understand more and more information. We strive to help the individual child develop fully through his/ her work, according to the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori, the founder of the Montessori Method. The following are areas of development you can expect to see in your child:v A Joy of Learningv Learning through Discoveryv Attachment to Realityv Ability to Choosev Enjoyment of Quietv Love of Orderv Concentrationv Self Confidencev Self Disciplinev Independence

My child was terrified of going to school. Now, after only 1 school year at this Montessori School he has bloomed. The teachers clearly love their jobs, and the children they care for. truly a Loving and Educational Enviornment!
