Debra T Thomas Learning Center Inc is located at 6 Westport Court and Debra T Thomas Learning Center 2 Inc is located at 1711 R T Dunn Drive in Bloomington and has been serving the area for over 21 years. We provide tender loving care, in addition to structured, yet innovative curriculum geared toward preparation for kindergarten. We strive to meet the needs of the family by providing care for children ages six weeks through twelve years.We also provide a program for school-age children before and after school, including transportation, and during the summer. We look forward to providing an educational and nurturing experience for your child. The Debra T. Thomas Learning Center will provide a program of activities geared to the age levels and developmental needs of the children served. Infants and Toddlers The daily program for infants and toddlers shall provide experiences which promote the individual child's growth and well-being in the development of gross and fine motor skills, sensory learning, language, cognitive, and positive self-concept. Self-care such as washing, dressing, toileting, brushing and combing hair shall be encouraged as each child shows evidence of ability to do so. PRESCHOOL: The daily program will provide experiences which promote the individual child's growth and well-being and the development of self- help and communication skills, social competence, and positive self-identity. Daily indoor and outdoor activities in which children make use of both large and small muscles shall be provided. SCHOOL AGE: Children who have been in school all day shall have time set aside for relaxation and recreation immediately upon arrival from school. Quiet activities and opportunities to do homework shall be accessible to children on a free choice basis. The facility shall provide a program and activities that recognize the developmental and educational needs of school-age children who need group care before and after school. Opportunity shall be available for the development of skills in areas such as sports, art, and music. Special projects outside the confines of the facility shall be provided, such as trips to the library. PARENT INVOLVEMENT: Success in our program depends largely on cooperation and communication between parents and staff. Parents are expected to keep informed by reading Center newsletters, notices on bulletin boards and posted notices in the building. Daily communication with the teacher is encouraged at departure. An authorized Parent/Guardian is permitted unlimited access to the Center during its hours of operation for the purposes of contacting their children, evaluating the care of their children or evaluating the premises. Please notify the Director or the designee upon your presence. Parent/Staff conferences are available upon request.
