Our adult reconstruction surgeons are experts in the replacement of the knee, hip, and shoulder joints. Whether you are in need of your first joint replacement or have already had one, our team can help guide you through the process. Our surgeons are well versed in the most up to date procedures and techniques and have years of experience to ensure that you have the best possible outcome. Our fellowship trained hand surgeons are experts in the care of various conditions involving the hand and wrist including fractures, work injuries, nerve compressions, or other ailments. Our surgeons have received the Certificate of Added Qualification necessary to show proficiency in the field. Additionally, they work closely with Down East Hand and Physical Therapy in the development of hand rehabilitation programs. These collaborations allow Down East Orthopedics the ability to create a comprehensive treatment plan to get you back to activity. Our sports medicine team is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of athletic and other injuries. We have the only fellowship trained sports medicine physicians in the greater Bangor area and the support staff to help you get back to your activities quickly and safely. Our Surgeons are trained in the areas of arthroscopic minimally invasive surgery, ligament reconstruction, cartilage repair, and soft tissue repair. These techniques are applied to the major joints of the body including the wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. Our in house physical therapy staff will also ensure that your rehabilitation proceeds as expected. While these principles are often applied to athletes, they are also utilized to treat workplace and non-sport related injuries. In addition to their clinical excellence, our physicians also provide sideline and event coverage in the Bangor area. They are the official orthopedic surgeons of the University of Maine Black Bears and Husson University as well as multiple local high schools. The spinal column is a bony structure that protects the spinal cord and supplies your body with structure and support. The spinal column is basically divided up into three major sections, the Cervical (neck region), the Thoracic (center portion of spine) and the Lumbar (lower back region). Each section is made of individual bones called Vertebrae. Damage to the spinal column can limit your ability to bend, walk or stand. Our physician treats a wide variety of spinal conditions with non-surgical and surgical treatments. Treatment may include exercise plans, physical therapy, medication and surgery when necessary. Our physician will help determine the best treatment for your condition. Our board certified orthopedic surgeons are trained to diagnosis and treat many common fractures. This includes injuries to the upper extremities, pelvis, and lower extremities. With the assistance of our in office x-ray, your broken bone can be closely monitored for signs of healing while a full time casting technician assists with the placement of casts, splints, or other immobilization devices. If appropriate, our physician will ensure that you get the surgical care that you need to appropriately recover from your injury.
