      General Info
      Newschannel 8, owned by Allnewsco, was first launched on October 7, 1991. It is a 24-hour regional news network serving the suburban areas of Maryland, Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. Newschannel 8 combines originally produced news, talk and sports with time-shifted programs from ABC News. The channel's program schedule combines its own newscasts with business programs, parenting shows, sports programming and time-shifted replays of ABC News programs such as Nightline and 20/20. In addition, on weekend mornings, the channel also runs entertainment reports, gardening shows, gospel music shows and other eclectic programming. The channel also benefits from a strategic alliance with The Washington Post, whose journalists make frequent appearances on Newschannel 8 newscasts.
