Mission : The Apex Fire Department will proudly and continuously protect life, property, and the environment from fire, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and other emergencies for those who live, work, and travel in and through the Town of Apex and surrounding districts with competent, professional, and honest personnel. About Us : The Apex Fire Department is located in Apex, North Carolina, in the southwest corner of Wake County. Since incorporating in 1939, the department has undergone tremendous growth and change along with the Town of Apex. First settled in the 1860s by a number of private landowners, the town was incorporated in 1873. In the late 1930s the population hovered just under 1,000. In 1990 it had grown to almost 5,000, and in the year 2000 it broke the 20,000 mark. Some projections place population at nearly 64,000 by 2010. This phenomenal growth is posing challenges for everyone including our fire department. We are currently a combination department with 14 full-time paid staff members, 18 part-time paid staff members and about 40 volunteers. Our personnel are trained in a wide variety of fire, rescue and EMS specialties. In addition to the usual fire suppression duties, we also respond to a number of other emergency calls. The department is a provider of Basic Life Support services. Most of our members are trained to the Wake County First Responder level, several have received their North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician certifications as well. Several of our members are certified scuba divers, and have answered a number of calls including submerged vehicles and several body search and recovery operations in local lakes and ponds. Some members are also trained in other specialty areas including vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, high angle rescue, hazardous materials and radiological response. The Apex Fire Department is fortunate to have a very dedicated support staff as well. The Firebelles see to our every need on the fire scene as well as during fundraisers and other social events. There is no better sight after a long night on the scene than one of these ladies with a car-load of hot biscuits and coffee! We also have a Junior Firefighter program for individuals between the ages of 14 and 18. These future firefighters can join us in training evolutions and they can play an important support role in actual emergency situations. The program is a great opportunity for the youths to get an early start on learning how to handle emergencies. Station Address Phone Fax 1 210 North Salem Street, P.O.
