In November 2012 Wisconsin River Co-op of Adams and Farmers? Co-op Supply & Shipping Association of West Salem announced merger plans. After several months of planning and preparation, the merger of the two co-ops was complete on April 1, 2013. The new cooperative has been named ?Allied Cooperative?. Allied Cooperative?s CEO Timothy Diemert commented on the merger completion: ?Throughout the merger process, the employees from both companies have demonstrated great dedication, and have remained focused on exceeding the needs of the customers we serve. We are eager to work together as a team to build a stronger company. By combining forces we will be better equipped to keep up with our customer?s growing needs and expectations.? ?We will improve the utilization of our facilities and equipment. We will add efficiency to our sales and delivery routes. We will also be better positioned for growth and have increased access to capital. These advantages are just a few of the many that have been identified. Each of these advantages will strengthen our leadership position in the marketplace and help to ensure the long-term success of our cooperative.? Cooperative customers can expect ?business as usual?. While internal processes will be streamlined to improve efficiencies, the cooperative plans to continue operations throughout its territory. ?Right now, very little will change,? said Diemert. ?Customers will have access to the same products and services they have come to expect from their co-op. Their account teams won't change, but they will have more support backing them up, and that?s a good thing. Our primary goal in this process is to make the transition as smooth and seamless as possible for our customers.? In spring 2013, Allied Cooperative opened a brand new fertilizer plant located on Estate Road in Tomah. The plant was constructed in order to better meet the needs of its customers in the Tomah area. The new plant includes 8,000 ton of dry crop nutrient storage and 1,800 ton of liquid blending capacity. Construction has also begun on a grain plant at the same location with 1.166 million bushel capacity, which will be open for the 2013 fall harvest season. In addition, there will be a full array of crop scouting and precision ag services operating from this facility. Allied Cooperative was formed when the members of Wisconsin River Co-op and Farmers? Co-op Supply and Shipping Association overwhelmingly approved a plan to merge the two cooperatives. The co-op?s roots date back to 1917. Its services include agronomy, feed, grain, LP, refined fuels, hardware, tires, auto parts and convenience stores. It has operations in Adams, Galesville, Mauston, Melrose, Mindoro, Necedah, Plainfield, Plover, Tomah, West Salem and Wisconsin Dells.
