General Info
New Life Temple began with a heartfelt calling in the hearts of Sam P. Gertrude Garza on March 9, 1980 in the front room of a home on Congress Street in Abilene, Texas. The Glory of God arose in this handful of faithful believers, who in a matter of 11 months grew to an approximate number of 285 members. As this church faced the challenge of keeping up with growth, the unrelenting and unyielding faith that characterized it founders led to the accumulation of $12,000.00 utilized for a down payment to purchase the property and building. This would become the future sight of New Life Temple. This would eventually include a new sanctuary and family life center for the newly purchased property. Upon laying the foundation, Pastor vision was realized only after he lost a courageous battle to cancer. The completion and continuation of the vision given to both Reverend Sam P. Gertrude Garza is a clear demonstration of the faithfulness of our Sovereign Lord. Pastors Ezequiel Carolyn Pecina were elected as the new pastors shortly after Reverend Garza went to be with the Lord. The vision continued and the Church grew. Now, 19 years later, there are three morning worship services, including a spanish service. With hundreds of salvations occuring every year at Life Church, the message is simple, come as you are! Jesus Loves You! Pastor Pecina has prayed and sought God on how we can be a soul-winning Church. From those prayers came Project 300. It is how we put our faith into action. Every month we choose a person or family to invite to church. We pray for them daily, fast for them weekly, and invite them to the Project 300 celebration service on the last Sunday of the month, where they will enjoy a message of salvation through an illustrated sermon by Pastor Ezequiel Pecina. Over the years, we have seen a wonderful growth and even better, a powerful move of the Holy Spirit.
