- Broome County Council of Churches is a network of Christian congregations located in Binghamton, N.Y. The council act as an ecumenical advocate for change and reconciliation and promotes peace and justice across racial, ethnic, economic and religious lines. It offers a range of services for older citizens, youth, prisoners and homeless people. Its food recovery program provides meals to more than 50 hunger-relief agencies. The council s emergency program includes advocacy, referral and direct assistance services. The council also offers emotional and spiritual support to nearly 10,000 people each year. Additionally, it sponsors several television and radio programs on faith, spirituality and ethics. Established in 1941, the council publishes several newsletters that feature articles on ecumenical and interfaith communities.
