General Info: Naomi Maakestad is a family nurse practitioner with a special interest in preventative medicine in rural communities. Prior to her start in family medicine, she worked as a nurse in a Level 1 trauma center and in critical care. She also has more than two decades of mission experience including traveling to Africa, Guatemala, Mexico and Columbia to provide care to those in need. Providing high quality and accessible care to people is Maakestad’s passion. “More than 20 years of caring for patients in times of crisis and emergency has instilled a deep desire to care for people earlier and focus on intervention and prevention through family medicine.” Maakestad graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing science from the University of Arizona and spent more than 20 years working as a nurse before completing her master’s degree in nursing science from Chamberlain University in Chicago and beginning her career as a family nurse practitioner. She grew up and worked as a flight nurse in St. David and has always viewed the greater Benson area as her home. She wants to work closely with patients to reach their health goals and bring about overall life improvement.
