What a find! I collect owls--mostly vintage figurines and owl jewelry and sometimes stuffed animals. Kids & Cats has so many owls!! And other animal collectibles, too. I got a turtle and a frog for my coworker. And a cute cat windchime for my Mom. They said they are getting ready to put out more James Avery so my sister will be happy. But the owls were for me! ;)

Finally wandered into Kids-N-Cats this afternoon after years of walking by on my way to the HEB. What an amazingly eclectic and mind-blowing selection of stuff in here. I asked the woman behind the counter if it was her store and she deadpanned, "No, it's the cat's." The woman is Lani, the kitty is Angel, and the feeling is all Austin. The aisles are overhung with so many games, toys, blouses, skirts, candles, posters, lamps, stuffed animals, etc etc etc. The selection is all over the map and that's what makes the vibe so special. This is a massive collection of stuff that one individual likes and wants to share. Apparently she has some loyal customers who appreciate her individuality; she's been there 17 years! That's pretty impressive.

Nice selection of James Avery jewelry. I was excited to find an older retired piece of James Avery that I had when I was a child. I bought the cross and a great cat collar called a Beastie Band! The collar had "fat cat" on it and the owner said it was one of their best sellers so I thought I'd try it on my cat. I was looking to pick up a candle, but she showed me a Lamphugger and some oil so I will try that, too. Interesting store.

Great selection of used children's books! Lots of preschool and elementary level paperback books that I needed for school. I loved that they had a bunch of books on sale for 99 cents! Also they have many good chapter books for 99 cents like Magic Tree House and Junie B Jones. I bought a few gifts for friends (a wind chime and a cedar treasure box with a fairy on it) Then I treated myself to the Moodstar Skyflower incense and a cool pair of sterling amber earrings. Go for the books, but check out the interesting array of gifts and jewelry. I'll be going back in a few weeks to check out their next batch of great used books. Highly recommended.

Cool Austin gift shop! Amazing selection of STUFFED ANIMALS! Also lots of animal and dragon figurines. I love all their vintage jewelry ---so much to see. Little store, but packed with unique stuff. I picked up a couple of used books for the children. And a pretty amber & sterling silver ring for myself. My little shopper liked the Star Wars and Batman action figures. They have a lot of jigsaw puzzles for adults and kids. I loved seeing the Hagen Renaker miniatures that I used to collect when I was a kid. And the Care Bears. I bought some of the Moodstar incense to burn at the house. I want to go back again soon and check out the intersting wall crosses and windchimes, but that is for another day when I have more time! Plus the owner said she puts out new stuff everyday. I definately recommend this little store to anyone that loves cats, dogs, vintage jewelry, old collectibles, books and cool gifts!!!

I was looking for a stuffed armadillo and they had several to choose from. Huge selection of stuffed animals from little to super big and all price ranges. My armadillo was about $6. They have new and gently used or pre-owned stuffed animals which is good if you are looking for a hard to find animal or older character.

Stuffed animals stacked to the ceiling!! Lots of cats and dogs, lions, tigers, elephants, squirrels, teddy bears,horses, sea animals, farm, zoo, you name it! And of course armadillos. I liked seeing the old-school vintage character stuffed animals from my childhood like Snoopy, Scoobydoo, Pooh, Tweety, Care bears, Babar, Raggedy Ann, you get the drift. Toys for all ages it seems. A gift shop and toy shop all in one and locally owned makes it even better!
