businesses within a map (area of your choosing) in 3 easy steps.
By
clicking on the map-based search link, you will be prompted to first create a
map by entering an address. Let's say you want to find Italian restaurants near
your home. Enter your home address into the address fields provided. When finished,
click the button that reads, "Create Map!" A map will be created that shows the
location of your home (indicated by a red pushpin graphic) and the surrounding
vicinity.
Step 2 allows you to search for a specific business or a category.
Since you are searching for Italian restaurants, type "Italian Restaurants" into
the field provided. (If you are not sure what category you would like to search,
a list of SuperPages' frequently searched categories is provided.) When you have
typed your category into the appropriate field, click the "Find It" button. Your
map will now be populated with all Italian restaurants found in your area. If
no restaurants are found in your immediate area, the search will suggest you zoom
out to cover a wider geographic region. You may do so, or perhaps you want to
try a different search altogether. The category "Restaurants" will most
likely bring you the most results, since it encompasses all types of food.
Step 3 will customize your map for you. For example, if 3 Italian restaurants
are found, click the "add to map" button. You will then be given a list of all
the categories that match your search text, in this case 'Italian Restaurants',
each indicated by a blue circle icon on the map. In the Search Results box you
may check a box to Save each individual business listing -- this will allow you
to store off a list of only the businesses you are interested in keeping, and
will allow you to print off information on those particular businesses.
If you want to hide current icons (Italian restaurants), click the "hide icons"
button below the map. Or if you want to remove them, you have that option as well.
This will clear your search and allow you to perform another.
You
can also perform multiple searches as well. Each search you perform will be indicated
by a different color and a different shaped object. Your searches will be displayed
underneath your map along with each symbol assigned for easy viewing. The map
will show multiple categories at a time, but you can only print one category at
a time. Multiple searches can be performed on one map at a time.
In
addition, you also have the choice to save and or print your map as well.
