- Subluxation€‹Adjusting a child is not a difficult procedure. In fact, in most cases, a child’s spine is much easier to adjust than an adult’s. They have not had the long-standing subluxations, their muscles are usually not as tense and they are usually more relaxed than adults.
- Manipulation TherapyHowever, research is showing that chiropractic care can help. A randomized clinical trial has concluded “Spinal manipulation is effective in relieving infantile colic.†The research team enrolled infants who were diagnosed with infantile colic. For a period of 2 weeks, half of the subjects underwent chiropractic spinal manipulation, while the other half received the drug dimethicone. “From trial day 5 onward the manipulation group did significantly better than the dimethicone group, according to the report. Specifically, in the course of the 12 days of the study, the children receiving chiropractic adjustments saw a 67% reduction in crying and the drug group saw a 38% reduction in crying.
- Spinal DecompressionSpinal Decompression is a non-surgical traction procedure that effectively treats disabling low back pain, neck pain, radiating leg and arm pain, sciatica, herniated or bulging discs and arthritis.
- Pediatric Chiropractic€‹Chiropractic care should begin during pregnancy. International Chiropractic Pediatric Association ( ICPA ) Board member, Dr. Jeanne Ohm, sums up the benefits by saying, “Chiropractic care is essential for the pregnant mother. Her systems and organs are now providing for two and their optimal function is critical for the baby’s healthy development. The mother’s spine and pelvis undergoes many changes and adaptations to compensate for the growing baby and the risk of interference to her nervous system is increased. Specific chiropractic care throughout pregnancy works with enhancing nervous system function providing greater health potential for both the mother and baby.â€
