I live in Kentucky. My son lives in Ames. He gets his car serviced at this Midas and has never had an issue with price or quality. I've spoken to the manager two or three times and have had all my questions answered promptly. The mgr does not try to sell you things that aren't needed.... Honesty is rare today.

I would give this place a zero rating if possible. I sent my wife in to get an estimate. I knew the pads needed replacement just wasn't sure if it was the front or rear. They gave her an estimate for $1100.00 for pads rotors and a flushing of the lines. When i got home i replaced the front pads for $48.00 and everything is hunky dory. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!

The shop on Lincoln Way in Ames is horrible. The first time, my engine stopped working, they told me that I need to change my fuel pump, and they wanted to charge that for more than $700!! I refused that it was way too expensive. It is almost 1/4 of my car price. My car is till working well for more than 1 year without changing my fuel pump. Then I went to check my air conditioning, I am poor, so I asked a lot of question about how much to replace or examine. Someone regarded me as a joke, said "You need for free, is that what you want?". That makes me feel sad.

i had a coolant leak. they inspected and said i needed a new heater core and it would cost over $1000 to replace. before spending so much, i tried replacing the coolant system hose clamps (about $1 at walmart) and it solved the problem. i know that they looked at the hoses because they changed their positions. the leakage at the clamps must have been obvious to a machanic. shame on you, midas!
