Provided by YPmobileI have been to Sugar Land Methodist Hospital both as inpatient and as an admit. Because of an autoimmune disease I have been in several hospitals in the med center. Sugar Land Methodist by far is the best hospital. The nursing staff is top notch in caring for patients. The emergency room is fast and efficient. The doctors are fantastic. The patient rooms are beautiful and it feels like you are in a hotel room instead of a sterile room. It is simply the best.

Provided by YP.comI can't comment on the other departments - I've heard wonderful things about the emergency room second hand. My review is for people who choose to give birth here.
My sister went here to give birth. This hospital touts that they are strictly a breastfeeding hospital and only want to give formula if it is medically necessary. The talk on and on about how they are a "10 step breastfeeding hospital" to ensure the success of the mom in being able to breastfeed her baby. TOO BAD they only have one lactation consultant that works T-F 9 to 4. So this means, if you give birth Friday night and have no complications, you get out of there by Sunday and in the entire time you are there, you will see a lactation consultant a total of ZERO TIMES. G*d forbid you give birth over the weekend. Also, regardless of if you saw a lactation consultant or not, they CHARGE you to come back to see her after you leave the hospital. $60 for UP TO an hour - no insurance taken. When I gave birth, and it happened to be a Friday to Sunday scenario - I was visited 10 times by a lactation consultant in a 3 day period - and this at a hospital that isn't a "10 step breastfeeding hospital"
I find this whole mentality and situation at Memorial Hermann completely ridiculous since they brag about how good they are in this aspect of helping moms and babies get a good start. In theory, a mom may choose this hospital for the specific reason that they focus so heavily on breastfeeding and then get there and realize that there is minimal help and could possibly have no help at all.
My sister also got no instruction regarding swaddling, cord care, how to help the baby from getting jaundice (getting outside), and other things. The nurse said she wasn't allowed to take home a lot of the stuff that is in her room (and I'm pretty sure she'll be charged for) and made her put it back even though we were told specifically that everything in that room is yours and will be thrown out if it isn't used.
My experience and hers were so fundamentally different that I felt sorry for her and for anyone who gives birth at this hospital and is a first time mom because you don't know any better. You feel scared and completely like you don't know what you are doing and you have no frame of reference on how you should be treated and what they should be telling you.
Oh and the topper - we never did learn what those 10 steps are.

Provided by YP.comI took my sister to this hospital for an emergency recently and was very impressed with how fast the ER got her in and out. Additionally the level of care is better than most hospitals. The nurses were all friendly and went out of their way to make her stay as comfortable as possible. The admissions department was friendly and went out of their way to make sure my sister was comfortable. I'd recommend this hospital to anyone in the Sugar Land area.
